Barring of Amdadul’s viva

CU forms probe body

The authorities of Chittagong University (CU) formed a three-member probe body to investigate into the barring of gold medallist candidate from attending viva voce for lecturer recruitment at the Zoology department on March 27.

The committee was asked to submit the report within short time, confirmed Assistant Professor Helal Uddin, head of the probe body.

He said they will sit on Sunday with the other members of the committee and will try to submit the report within one week.

Md. Amdadul Haque, a prime minister’s gold medallist for his academic achievements, was forcibly barred by some activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League when he went to the university to attend a viva for Zoology department’s lecturer recruitment.

He filed a case on March 31 with a Chattogram court, accusing seven BCL men of criminal intimidation, kidnap, wrongful confinement, theft and attempt to murder.

Amdadul lodged a written complaint to CU Vice-Chancellor on March 30 demanding a retake of the viva, cancelling the previous one.
