CU to form anti-ragging, anti-drug cell

Chittagong University (CU) authorities are going to form an anti-ragging and anti-drug cell at the university soon.

Apart from that, the authorities have decided to form a vigilance team in an attempt to monitor the halls regularly to avert unwanted incidents.

CU acting Vice Chancellor Prof Shireen Akhter made the announcement at a views-exchange meeting with campus-based journalists yesterday at her office.

VC Shireen Akhter said the education minister asked all heads of educational institutions to form the cells. “We are acting as per the direction of the ministry,” she said.

Asked about the quality of food at dormitories, she said she was aware of the matter and would take steps to improve the quality of food.

She added that the administration will take stern action against those who have illegally occupied seats at dormitories of the university.

Recently, CU VC inspected some dormitories of the university and said there is no “torture cell” at CU.
