Ctg traffic sergeants to get weekly day off for first time

Cops welcome CMP’s move; constables to be included into the system soon

For the first time in the history of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), traffic sergeants are going to get weekly day offs.

Following directives of CMP Commissioner Mahbubor Rahman, Additional Commissioner (traffic) SM Mostaq Ahmed Khan has already issued a day-off circular for sergeants and Town Sub-Inspectors (TSI) yesterday.

From now on, traffic officials will get a day off either on Friday or Saturday.

Several officials told The Daily Star now they would be able to spend quality time with their loved ones, adding that it would increase their working spirit on the six other days of the week.

Traffic Inspector (Admin) of CMP Traffic North Division Md Mohiuddin told The Daily Star that following the new order, a lot of enthusiasm has been created among traffic sergeants and TSI.

The day off benefit will be implemented for traffic constables and others gradually, he added.

According to police rules, a cop can get 20 days of casual leave a year, with permission from high authority. Earlier, traffic police officials could not have any days off, but had to work by rotation all seven days of the week.
