Ctg court places SI on two-day remand

A Chattogram court yesterday placed a Town Sub-Inspector (TSI) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) on two-day remand, in connection with a yaba peddling case filed with port city’s Double Mooring Police Station.

The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Mehnaz Rahman passed the two-day remand order for TSI Siddiqur Rahman, after hearing a five-day remand prayer pleaded by Counter Terrorism (CT) unit of CMP, said Assistant Commissioner (prosecution) Kazi Shahbuddin Ahmed of CMP.

On Sunday, Sub-Inspector (SI) Rasib Khan, Investigation Officer of CT, pleaded a five-day remand prayer for TSI Siddiqur Rahman.

Members of CT and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-7) in a joint drive arrested TSI Siddique in possession of 10,000 yaba pills from CSG colony in port city’s Agrabad area on June 14. Later, the TSI was suspended while a case was lodged with Double Mooring Police station accusing Siddiqur and his partner TSI Bablu Khandokar of Government Railway Police of Chattogram.

TWO HELD WITH YABA

Meanwhile, police arrested a man and his son-in-law in possession of 1,965  yaba pills from port city’s Railway Station and Halishahar areas on  Sunday night.

The arrestees are Md Yusuf Jalal, 50, and Md Abdur Rahim Raju alias Bormaiya Raju, 30, said police.

Mohammed Mohsin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station,  said acting on a tip-off, a team of police arrested Yusuf first along with 1,965 yaba pills from Old Railway station area, and  later based on his confession, arrested Abdur Rahim from  Halishahar, who was waiting there to receive the pills. 

During interrogation, the duo said Raju’s brother-in-law Md Ayach,  NGO worker, supplied the yaba pills, said the OC adding that  police were trying to arrest Ayach, and a case was lodged in  this connection.
