'Corrupt' SK Sinha making up new story: Law minister

Law Minister Anisul Huq yesterday said former chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha has made a new story by writing a book one year after his stepping down.

“His fellow judges of the Appellate Division had refused to sit with Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha in the court to discharge judicial functions, saying he is corrupt. Without finding an alternative, he (Justice Sinha) resigned from the office of chief justice,” he said.

The law minister made the remarks while talking to reporters after attending a function for laying foundation stone of an eight-storey building at Narayanganj District Bar Association premises.

Anisul said what Justice SK Sinha has written in his book is totally false.

The minister said the Anti-Corruption Commission is examining corruption allegations against Justice Sinha, and will file a case against him when it sees fit. The government will not interfere in ACC's proceedings, he said.

“A Broken Dream: Rule of Law, Human Rights and Democracy”, an autobiography of Justice SK Sinha -- who is now in the US -- came out on September 16 where the former CJ claimed that he stepped down in the “face of intimidation and threats”.
