Cop’s son missing for four days

Businessman traceless since Sunday

The son of a police sub-inspector has been missing since Saturday from the capital’s Bashabo area.

Mazharul Islam Aronno (13), son of SI Abdul Motalib Bhuiyan of Police Bureau of  Investigation, is a seventh grader at Motijheel Model School  and College.

Speaking to The Daily Star, SI Motalib said Aronno went out of the family’s residence around 10am on Saturday to play with his friends at the nearby Balurmath field.

As he didn’t return, the family started to get worried and started looking for him at possible locations, including police stations and hospitals..

Despite being a member of police, Motalib said he does not have many enemies and cannot think of a reason behind Aronno’s disappearance. “I am clueless as to what might have happened to my son. We are very worried… His mother is bedridden,” he said.

The family filed a general diary in this connection with Shabujbagh Police Station on Sunday.

In another case of disappearance, a former leader of Chattogram University unit Chhatra League has been  missing for three days from the capital’s Moghbazar area.

Missing  Omar Faruque (34), now an air-condition trader, went to his office at  Moghbazar on Sunday morning but is yet to return home, his brother  Sarwar Jahan Mamun told The Daily Star yesterday.

Victim’s wife  last contacted him over the phone around 2:00pm on Sunday. On the call,  Omar Faruque told his wife he would be late. After a while, his phone  was found switched off, Mamun added.

CCTV footage of his  office shows he entered the premise around 11:15am that day. However,  there is no record of his exit, Mamun added.

A general diary was filed with Hatirjheel Police Station in this regard.
