Consumer Rights Day observed in Khulna

World Consumer Rights Day was observed in Khulna yesterday, to ensure reasonable price and quality of products, by protecting consumer rights.

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, Khulna district administration, and Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) jointly organised the programme at the conference room of Khulna district office.

Marking the day, a procession was brought out from Shaheed Hadis Park, and ended at Khulna district office where people of all walks of life participated.

Speakers said quality should be ensured at every step of manufacturing and marketing of any product. For this reason, there is no alternative to awareness of people. Besides, businessmen, manufacturers, consumers and marketing agencies need good coordination to maintain quality of products.

Nishchinta Kumar Podder, additional divisional commissioner of Khulna, was present as chief guest. “Our government is implementing various programmes to protect consumer rights. We enacted the Consumers' Right Protection Act-2009, which is helping to ensure consumers' rights.”

Ziaur Rahman, additional district administration of Khulna; Advocate Enayet Ali, president of CAB; SM Nazimul Islam, deputy director  of National Consumer Rights Protection of Khulna, spoke among others at the event.
