Celebrating ‘Vaccine Hero 2019’ award

On September 23, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received the “Vaccine Hero 2019” award in recognition of Bangladesh’s outstanding success in immunising children. To mark this achievement, Health Service Department of the Health and Family Welfare Ministry arranged a celebration event on Wednesday at the capital’s Krishibid Institution Bangladesh.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque was the chief guest of the programme, with Health Service Division Secretary Md Ashadul Islam in the chair, said a press release.

Unicef Deputy Representative Veera Mendonca and WHO Representative Dr Bardan Jung Rana, in their speech, brought to light various aspects of how Bangladesh succeeded to provide vaccinations.

Through this celebration, speakers conveyed their gratitude to the Vaccine Alliance and partner agencies for their continuous support and contribution in the health sector of Bangladesh.
