Case filed over rape of 14-year-old in Dhaka

A case has been filed against an unnamed accused for raping a 14-year-old in Dhaka's Chawk Bazar area.

Relatives of the victim, who has a speech impediment, filed the case with Chawk Bazar Police Station today, said Munshi Abdul Lokman, a sub-inspector of the station.

The incident took place last night when the girl, who works at a factory in Begum Bazar area, was returning home from her workplace, the SI said citing the case document.

The culprit, aged around 40 years and a worker of the same factory, lured the girl to an unknown location and raped her, according to the case document.

The victim later returned home in Keraniganj and informed her relatives, who then filed the case, SI Lokman said, adding that she could not say the name of the accused or the location but would be able to identify him.

The victim has been sent to a hospital this evening for medical tests, the police personnel added.
