Case against SK Sinha: Charge framing hearing Mar 25

A Dhaka court yesterday transferred the graft case filed against former chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha and 10 others to the Special Judge's Court-4 of Dhaka for its trial.

After getting copies of advertisements published in two national dailies, Judge KM Emrul Kayesh passed the order. The court set March 25 for hearing on charge framing against Sinha and 10 others.

The same court yesterday also granted bail to Farmers Bank's former MD, AKM Shamim, and senior executive vice-president and former head of credit division Gazi Salahuddin after they surrendered before it, seeking bail.

On January 22, the court directed the authorities to publish advertisements in two national dailies asking SK Sinha and 10 others to appear before it by yesterday in a graft case.

On January 5, the same court issued arrest warrants against the accused as they were shown "fugitives" in the charge-sheets.
