Breast milk must for child development: speakers

Speakers at a seminar yesterday said breast milk is a must for children's overall physical and mental development.

They also put emphasis on creating awareness among mothers on the advantages of breast feeding.

The speakers were addressing a seminar organised by the civil surgeon of Mymensingh, marking World Breastfeeding Week.

Breast feeding can lower the risk of breast and ovarian cancer in women, speakers said, adding, “It also reduces child mortality”.

Mahmud Hasan, divisional commissioner of Mymensingh, was the chief guest at the event.
