Bogura district AL president Momtaj Uddin passes away

Alhaj Momataj Uddin, a freedom fighter and president of Bogura District Awami League, passed away yesterday. He was 78.

He breathed his last at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital while undergoing treatment following a cardiac arrest, said family members.

Momtaj left behind his wife, two daughters and two sons to mourn his death. His first namaz-e-janaza was held at Altafunnesa field after Zohr prayers, while the second one in Manik Chak area of Bogura town.

In 1971, eleventh-grader Momtaj Uddin joined the Liberation War. He had been the president of Bogura District Awami League since 1994.

Momtaj contested in the general election in 1991 and 2008. In 2016, he became a member of Awami League central executive committee.

Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and General Secretary Obaidul Quader expressed deep shock at the death of AL leader Momtaj Uddin.

In separate condolence messages, they prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.
