Body of nine-year-old found in travel bag

Police recovered the body of a boy from a travel bag in Shantirhat area of Patiya upazila in Chattogram yesterday afternoon.

The identity of the deceased could not be known at the time of filing this report.

Md Burhan Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Patiya Police Station, said they recovered the body after being informed by locals.

Quoting locals, the OC said someone threw the bag  on the street from a Cox’s Bazar-bound bus in Shantir Hat area of Patiya around 2:30pm. 

“Locals opened the bag out of curiosity and found the body inside. They could not identify the bus,” he said, adding that they are continuing their search for the vehicle.

The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College morgue for autopsy.
