Body found in Turag river

Police have recovered the floating body of an unidentified girl, aged around 18, from Turag river at Birulia area of Savar on the outskirts of the capital yesterday.

Azgor Ali, sub-inspector (SI) of Savar Police Station, said, “We received information from locals that a decomposed body was seen floating in the river near a local park.”

“We went to the spot and recovered the body around 12pm,” the SI added.

The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital in Dhaka for autopsy, said the SI.

He added that they are yet to determine whether she was murdered or not.

“We are trying to find out the identity of the girl,” he said.
