Body found in Ctg pond

A man was found dead in a pond in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram yesterday.

Police recovered the body of Joynal Abedin (30) from the waterbody near his house at Telipara in Barabkunda union.

Sitakunda Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abul Kalam Azad said the recovery was made following information from 999.

"The body bore several stab marks and mutilation," he said.

"Joynal used to sell fruits in the port city's Halishahar area. We detained his wife for interrogation following some information given by the neighbours," said the police officer.

"The motive behind the incident is not clear yet. We have started our investigation," he said.

Police sent the body to Chattogram Medical College morgue for autopsy.
