Body of 2-yr-old found

Police yesterday recovered the body of a two-year-old girl from the tank of a sanitary latrine at West Sarafbhata village in Rangunia upazila of Chattogram, 15 days after she went missing from her grandfather’s house. The deceased is Jannatun Asifa, daughter of Jamir Uddin, said police.

Family members said, Jannatun’s mother went to visit her father at the village with her two children on December 12. On December 16, the mother went to attend an event with her five-year-old son, leaving Jannatun with her aunt at the house. She went missing that day, her aunt said.

Family members filed a general diary, said Sub-inspector Mahbub Hossain of Rangunia Police Station. Yesterday, locals found her body in the tank near the house. Police went to the spot and recovered the body, he said.

“We sent the body to Chattogram Medical College morgue for autopsy,” said SI Mahbub.

Filing of a case was under process with the police station, he added.
