BNP’s Khulna units protest gas price hike

BNP formed a human chain in front of its office on KD Ghosh Road of Khulna city yesterday, protesting the price hike of gas. The district and city units of the party organised the human chain joined by few hundred supporters.

Nazrul Islam Monju, organising secretary of central BNP and president of the party’s Khulna city unit, alleged, “The government intends to give the relatives of ruling party men an opportunity to loot people’s money. This will also increase corruption in the sector.”

Monju also said that people with fixed or low incomes will be affected the most due to this price hike.

BNP leaders alleged that pro-Awami League businessmen will get a chance to make money by extracting higher gas prices from common people.

Demanding Khaleda’s immediate release, speakers alleged that the government has kept Khaleda in jail by controlling the judicial system.

Moniruzzaman Moni, former mayor of Khulna City Corporation and secretary of Khulna city unit of BNP was present at the demonstration among other party leaders.
