BNP Ctg city unit President Dr Shahadat Hossain arrested

BNP Chattogram City unit President Shahadat Hossain was arrested today following the clash between BNP men and police in Kazir Dewri area in the port city this evening.

An extortion case was filed against him with Chawkbazar Police Station in the city, Chattogram Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner SM Mehdi Hassan told The Daily Star.

BNP had brought out a procession to protest the attacks and deaths that took place on independence day in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Brahmanbaria, said BNP leaders, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.

At least 15 persons, including five policemen, were injured when BNP men and police clashed during the procession.
