Biman to start Sylhet-Cox’s Bazar flights from tomorrow

Biman Bangladesh Airlines is going to start direct flight from Sylhet to Cox's Bazar from November 12.

Considering the demand and development of domestic tourism, the national flag carrier has taken the initiative to launch flights on the Sylhet-Cox's Bazar route, Biman said in a release.

This is the first time in Bangladesh's domestic flights history any airline of the country will fly on the route. Biman hopes that this will create a bridge between the tourist areas of Sylhet and Cox's Bazar for rapid development of tourism and commercial development.

The flight will leave Sylhet for Cox's Bazar every Tuesday at 11:45am and Thursday at 11:50am. Besides, it will depart from the tourist city of Cox's Bazar to Sylhet twice a week on Sunday at 12:05pm and on Tuesday at 1:45pm.

Biman Managing Director and CEO Mokabbir  Hossain said it will take around one hour 17 minutes to fly from Sylhet to Cox's Bazar using Dash 8Q aircraft.

Biman is now operating flights on all seven domestic routes -- Chattogram, Rajshaji, Jashore, Barishal, Sylhet, Saidpur and Cox's Bazar from Dhaka.

Besides, the national airliner is operating flights on 10 international routes including London, Singapore, Malaysia, Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Jeddah, Dubai, Riyadh, Muscat and Doha, said the Biman MD.
