BCL leader held with arms, yaba

Rapid Action Battalion yesterday arrested a Chhatra League (BCL) leader with arms and yaba pills in Savar’s Dakkhinpara area.

The arrestee is Plabon Khan Majlish, organising secretary of Savar Government University College unit of BCL, according to party sources.

On information, a team of Rab-4 from Dhaka’s Mirpur office conducted a raid in Plabon’s house around 11pm on Wednesday and arrested him with a pistol and 500 pieces of yaba, said Mozammel Haque, additional deputy inspector general of Rab-4. The raid continued till 2am, he said.

“We have information that he is an accused in a drug-related case and involved in drug trade,” said the Rab official.

Contacted, Saidul Islam, president of Dhaka district (north) unit of BCL, said, “Plabon has been suspended from the party. We have also requested the central committee president and general secretary to expel him.”
