Aziz co-op bank chair on two-day remand

A Dhaka court yesterday put the chairman of Aziz Cooperative Commerce and Finance Bank on two days’ remand, in a case filed in connection with embezzling Tk 16 lakh.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Millat Hossain granted the two-day remand on M Tajul Islam, 62, after the investigation officer (IO) of the case appealed for a seven-day remand, Bangshal Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Shahidur Rahman told The Daily Star.

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel arrested M Tajul Islam earlier in the day, in connection with the case filed against him and four others by one Sumaiya Akhter with Bangshal Police Station on May 25.
