‘Ansarullah man’ held in Dhaka

Police claimed to have arrested an alleged member of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) from Kuril-Bishwa road in Dhaka.

Arrestee Abu Taiub, 19, hailing from Monohardi upazila of Narsingdi, was a member of the ABT, Mahiduzzaman, superintendent of police (legal and media) of Anti-Terrorism Unit today.

He is a student of Jamia Islami Ulum Madrasa situated in Sadar upazila of Cumilla, the police official said.

Tipped off, a team of Anti-Terrorism Unit launched a drive in the area around 3:00pm yesterday and arrested Taiub, he said.

The lawmen also recovered different types of books and a mobile phone from his possession.

During primary interrogation, he admitted to the police that he had been conducting many groups including “Al Harkatul Jihad Fisabilillah” using Facebook messenger and encrypted app, added the police official.
