Gas Cylinder Blast: Another victim succumbs to injuries

Another victim of Rupnagar cylinder blast succumbed to injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital early yesterday, raising the death toll to eight.

The deceased was Mizanur Rahman, 6. He was undergoing treatment at Intensive Care Unit of DMCH since October 30.

Inspector Bacchu Mia, DMCH Police Outpost in-charge, said Mizan breathed his last at 2am. Family members took his body to Netrokona for burial after autopsy, he added.

Rokon Mia, Mizan’s father, said he received serious injuries on the belly, on one of his legs and left hand.

He said they have buried Mizan, a student of Protiva School at Rupnagar Slum, at Netrokona yesterday.

Rokon said his son, a student of a school at Rupnagar slum, went to see balloons being blown just before the incident.

Six children were killed in the explosion, while at least 20 were injured.

Six of the injured were being treated at  DMCH.
