Agro feed factory worker tests positive for coronavirus in Gazipur

An agro feed mill was locked down today after one of its workers tested positive for the coronavirus in Gazipur's Kapasia upazila.

The 28-year-old worker has been suffering from fever, cold and cough for the past week, our local correspondent reports.

He was admitted to the local upazila health complex after his symptoms became more severe, said Dr Abdus Salam Sarker, Kapasia upazila's health and family planning officer.His sample was sent to the IEDCR for Covid-19 test and today his report came back positive, he said.

Following the results of the report, local administration locked down the Chhoya Agro Feed Limited in Dasyu Narayanpur area at Kapasia, the officer informed The Daily Star.

There are around 125 residential workers in the factory and their samples will also be collected, he added.

The infected person is being sent to Kurmitola General Hospital.

The officer also said that samples of 26 people across the upazila were sent to the IEDCR and they all tested negative.

A team from Vietnam left the area on March 11 after visiting the factory.
