Police recovered the body of actor and ad filmmaker Tanvir Hasan Sumon from a flat in Dhaka's Uttara yesterday.

A domestic help saw the body hanging from the ceiling fan around 10am, Nur-e-Alam Siddique, officer-in-charge of Uttara (East) Police Station, told The Daily Star.

Police are primarily suspecting it to be a case of suicide. The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy, to determine the cause of death.

Tanvir was reportedly going through depression. “One and a half months ago, he suffered a stroke,” the deceased's brother-in-law Ishtiaque Ahmed told reporters at the morgue.

A former student of Drama and Dramatics department at Jahangirnagar University, Tanvir was involved in ad filmmaking and was also an actor. He was not doing well professionally in recent times, said his coworkers.
