ACCA holds career fair at DU

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Bangladesh has held a two-day career fair along with knowledge building workshops at the Faculty of Business Studies of Dhaka University.

The events on September 22-23 offered opportunity for potential candidates to submit their CVs to almost 40 employers for existing and future openings. The students were also able to speak to the human resources representatives of the employers and could sit for spot interviews. The sessions were conducted by industry experts from both academia and the corporate sector.

Prof Dr Kamal Uddin, treasurer of DU; Dr Reazur Rahman Chowdhury, chairman of the Department of Accounting and Information System, DU; Shabbir Ali, Group HR head of City Group; and Ahsanul Hoque Bashar, head of ACCA Bangladesh, among others, attended the inaugural ceremony.

The fair and workshops were part of “ACCA Career Day” celebration, an annual event that aims to establish links between students, professionals, executives and employers who are exploring prospects in the workforce, said a press release.

Citing the projection of PricewaterhouseCoopers, ACCA said that with the fast-growing economy and digitisation of business operations, Bangladesh might be the 23rd largest economy of the world by 2050.
