Abrar murder: Another Buet student held in Dhaka

Detectives today arrested another suspect in Buet student Abrar Fahad murder case.

A team of the detective branch (DB) of police arrested SM Mahmud Setu, also a Buet student, from Banglamotor area around 7:00pm, Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), told The Daily Star this evening.

With Setu, a student of Chemical Engineering department at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, a total of 21 accused have so far been arrested in connection with the murder case, the DMP official said.

Though his name was not mentioned in the charge sheet, Setu was arrested based on confessional statements of the other arrestees and other relevant evidences in this connection, Masudur Rahman said.

During primary investigation, Setu said he was a student of 14th of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and he completed BSC from Chemical Engineering Department this April.

Residing at the room no-2012 of Sher-e-Bangla Hall, Setu used to work at medicine company in Manikganj as a chemical engineer.

Abrar, the second-year student at electrical and electronic engineering department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, was beaten to death at a room no-2011 of his Sher-e-Bangla hall on October 7.
