85km of RHD roads damaged by flooding

At least 85 kilometres roads under Roads and Highways Department (RHD) network in eight districts were damaged due to ongoing flood in northern and north-western regions in the country till Sunday.

Several roads in Sunamganj are still under water, as per RHD's Flood Information Centre.

The highest 28km roads got damaged in Sunamganj while 25.1km in Gopalganj, 15.6km in Kurigram, 4.08km in Habiganj, 0.36km in Tangail, 3km in Netrakona, 3.2km in Gaibandha and 5.73km in Jamalpur, according to the centre.

Roads in many areas were partially washed out, it said. "We are fearing that more roads may be damaged as flood situation is deteriorating," an official of the centre told The Daily Star yesterday.
