8 members of a robber gang held in Dhaka

Law enforcers this morning claimed arrest of eight members of a robber gang from Dhaka.

They used to pose as policemen and commit crimes, said Banaj Kumar Majumder, a deputy inspector general of police and chief at Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).

A few days ago, they tried to rob a businessman off Tk 13 lakh he was carrying with the identity of detectives, the victim Mostafizur Rahman, told The Daily Star.

The eight arrestees were produced before the media during a press briefing at PBI’s Dhanmondi central office this morning. The victim was also present.

They were all arrested yesterday evening from Old Dhaka.
