7 held for fraudulence thru’ online shopping platforms

Rapid Action Battalion in a drive arrested seven people from Darussalam area of the capital for their alleged involvement in fraudulence through online shopping platforms on social media.

The arrestees are Mohammad Sujan Mollah, 26, Hafizul Hasan, 32, Jardis Hossain, 20, Mehedi Hasan, 23, Nur Islam, 19, Parvez Mollah, 19 and Abu Taher, 19, Commanding Officer of Rab-4 Chowdhury Manjurul Kabir said at a press briefing at the media centre.

In the drive conducted from 5:00pm yesterday to 4:00am early today, members of Rab recovered one computer, mobile phone, router and low-quality and fake items from their possession.

They would showcase branded and good-quality products on social media platforms to sell them for a high price and would later send poor-quality goods to the customers.

The seven would also send fake or wrong products to the customers, the official said.
