Among the arrestees, Bablu and Barek sustained gunshots in their legs in the gunfight with police, and were later admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Additional Superintendent of Police, Mohiuddin  Mahmud, said upon receiving information that a group of robbers gathered at a rest house in Salimpur, preparing for a robbery, DB personnel launched a drive there at around 4am.

Sensing the presence of DB officials, robbers opened fire, forcing police to retaliate, said the Mohiuddin, adding that after the gunfight police found the two injured by bullets, and arrested two more while they were fleeing the scene.

Three light guns, one rifle and two rounds of ammunition were recovered from their possession, he said.
