39pc fail in fresh 'Gha' unit test at DU

Around 39 percent of the admission seekers, who had previously passed the “Gha” unit test for admission at Dhaka University, have failed in its fresh test held on November 16.

The university authorities published the results of the fresh test yesterday at 5:00pm.

This time, out of 18,463 eligible admission seekers, 16,181 students appeared for the test. And 9,886 among them secured pass marks.

Full results of the test can be availed at http://admission.eis.du.ac.bd/ and SMS version of the results are also available on mobile phones with all mobile service operators.

A written application has to be submitted to the Faculty of Social Sciences by November 25 if a candidate wants her/his result reviewed.

On October 12, when allegations of question paper leak surfaced midway through the previous test of the “Gha” unit, the authorities brushed off the allegation, terming it a “digital forgery”, not a leak.

On that day, around 10:30am, after receiving the leaked questions, journalists instantly informed an assistant proctor of the matter.

The DU authorities formed a three-member probe body after the exam. A case was filed with Shahbagh Police Station and six people, including an admission seeker and his father, were arrested in this connection.

In the results published on October 16, over 18,500 students or around 26 percent of the examinees had passed in that test -- the highest pass rate for the unit over the past five years.

Hundreds of admission seekers protested the question leak while one of them staged a hunger strike, demanding a fresh test.
