3 ‘Ansar al Islam’ men arrested

Rapid Action Battalion claimed to have arrested three suspected members of banned militant outfit Ansar al Islam from Dhaka's Dhanmondi and Savar on Wednesday.

The arrestees are Nahid Mina (27) of Gopalganj, Salam Hawlader (25)  of Jhalkathi and a 17-year-old hailing from Gazipur.

Based on information provided by two arrested members of the outfit, a team of Rab-4 conducted drives around 9:30pm and arrested them, said Ziaur Rahman Chowdhury, assistant director of Rab-4.

Nahid is a driver by profession who has been an "active member" of the outfit since last three years. He was involved in motivating others.

Salam is a former employee of a private company who collected money for the outfit while the 17-year-old college student used to share "extremist write-ups" and videos online, Rab claimed in a press statement.
