20th anniversary of Mawlana Bhashani University

Today is the 20th founding anniversary of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU).

The authorities will celebrate the occasion on October 20 as they postponed the event due to Durga Utsab holidays.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina founded the institution, which covers 58 acres of land, at Santosh in Tangail in 1999, in honour of legendary political leader Mawlana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani.

Academic activities of the institution started in 2003.

There are 15 departments under five faculties at the university, with 5937 students, 221 teachers, 222 officials and 313 employees.

Prof Md Alauddin, vice-chancellor MBSTU, said he has been working to develop the university’s academic and administrative activities since joining MBSTU.

Mentionable infrastructural developments also took place under the current goverment, he added.
