20 gold bars recovered at Ctg airport

Officials of Customs Intelligence, Chattogram recovered a total of 20 gold bars from a passenger of a Biman flight at Shah Amanat International Airport yesterday morning.

The officials detained Ohidul Alam (29) hailing from Hathazari upazila in Chattogram in this connection, said Tanvir Ahmed, assistant director of Customs Intelligence, Chattogram.

On information, officials of Customs Intelligence searched Ohidul who came from Dubai by the flight at 8:30am, Tanvir said, adding that the gold bars were recovered from his jacket.

The total weight of the gold bars was 2.33kg, said Tanvir. The market price of the gold bars was estimated as Tk one crore.

Ohidul was handed over to Patenga Police Station for further legal action.
