1st draft voter list for Ducsu and hall union polls to be published today

The first draft voter list for the long-pending Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) and hall union polls will be published today, according to a press release of the university.

DU Vice Chancellor Prof MD Akhtaruzzaman will publish the list at a programme, scheduled to be held at 12:00pm at the Prof Abdul Matin Chaudhury virtual classroom.

The list will be available on the university website and hard copies of the list will be kept at the hall offices, reads the release.

One will have to apply in writing to the hall provost concerned for any correction in the draft list by November 30, it added.

On September 16, the DU authorities held a discussion with the presidents and general secretaries of all active student organisations at DU regarding the Ducsu election.

After the meeting, the VC said that they had started updating the voter lists and were hoping to hold the polls by March next year.

The DU authorities in a letter issued on September 9 asked student organisations to send presidents and general secretaries of both central and DU units of their organisations to join a discussion.

The move came a day after a contempt of court petition was filed with the HC against the DU authorities for failure to comply with a directive over holding the polls.

The last elections to the Ducsu and hall unions were held in 1990.
