Officials of Chattogram Customs House recovered 160 gold bars worth around Tk 11 crore at Shah Amanat International Airport this morning.

The gold bars were found abandoned on a passenger seat of a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, our Chattogram staff correspondent reports.

The flight, which was from Dubai, landed at 8:30am in the port city, said Musa Khan, assistant commissioner of the airport customs office.

The gold bars -- weighing around 18.71 kilograms -- were found hidden inside the seat, he said.

The bars would be deposited to the Bangladesh Bank exchequer and a case would be lodged under the customs act, he added.
