11-year-old twins raped by cousin in Dhaka’s Mugda

Eleven-year-old twin sisters were raped allegedly by their maternal cousin in Mugda area of Dhaka on Wednesday.

The victims' family filed a rape case against Farhad, 23, a shop employee, with Mugda Police Station this noon, said Sheikh Enamul Karim, sub-inspector of the police station.

According to the case statement, Farhad took the two fourth-graders from their house to his home in the same area on Wednesday afternoon when their mother was not at home.

He then locked the girls in a room and raped them one after the other, threatening to kill them if they disclosed the incident.

The two girls told their mother about the rape, and Farhad and his family have since gone into hiding, according to the case statement.

The two victims were admitted to a hospital for medical tests, said SI Enamul.

Police are trying to arrest the alleged rapist, added the police official.
