105 apex court lawyers made AAGs

The government has appointed 105 Supreme Court lawyers as new assistant attorney generals (AAGs).

The law ministry yesterday issued a notification, saying the appointment will remain effective until further order.

The appointments of 52 AAGs, who were recruited on June 12 and October 19 in 2017, will remain in force and the appointments of the AGGs, who were appointed earlier, have been cancelled, the notification said.

Law Minister Anisul Huq on June 26 urged the deputy attorney generals (DAGs) and AAGs, appointed before 2017, to resign for new appointments.

Later on, 87 DAGs and AAGs submitted their resignation letters, law ministry sources said.
