1 held with 6.5kg gold at Dhaka airport

Customs officials detained a passenger with 65 gold bars weighing 6.5 kilogrammes at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka last night.

Acting on a tip off, the officials held Md Rajib Dewan, 35, after he got off Singapore Airlines flight SQ446 around 11:00pm yesterday, Othello Chowdhury, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Customs House, told The Daily Star.

A total of six hidden packets were recovered from different parts of his pants, the customs official said.

Then, 65 gold bars were found inside those packets, he said.
