New jute factory starts operation

Supriyo Jute Industries went into operation at Dhakarhat village in Boda upazila of Panchagarh yesterday with a target to produce 20 tonnes of jute products including jute yarn, and sacks daily. 

Lawmaker of Panchagarh-2 constituency Nurul Islam Sujan inaugurated the private factory while former president of Panchagarh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Asraful Alam Patway was in the chair.

About 1,000 people have been employed in the factory, said General Manager of the factory Golam Rabbani, adding that around 1.5 lakh maunds of raw jute will be purchased every year for the factory which hopefully would encourage local farmers to cultivate jute.
