NCC polls: Shujan urges govt cooperation to EC

Sushasoner Jonno Nagorik (Shujan) today urged the government to extend its full cooperation to the Election Commission for holding Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls in a free and fair manner.

A civil society platform, Shujan came up with the call while placing its 13-point recommendation at the Narayanganj Press Club in the city this noon.

While reading out the points, Shujan’s Central Coordinator Dilip Kumar Sarker urged the EC to play strong role so that candidates abide by electoral code of conduct properly.

The political parties involved with the election should shun the attitude of winning the election at any cost, he said.

“Don’t say we must win. Rather say we will accept people’s verdict”, he urged the mayoral and coulcillor candidates.

Sarker also called upon the commission to take necessary measures for ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for holding a free and fair election.

The 13-point recommendation includes army deployment for December 22 NCC elections if necessary.
