NCC polls: Ivy takes a swipe at rival Shakhawat

Awami League nominated Narayanganj mayor candidate Selina Hayat Ivy today took a swipe at rival candidate, Shakhawat Hossain, alleging that he was a “hired candidate of BNP”.

“Shakhawat is a hired candidate of BNP. He knows nothing about Narayanganj. So, my victory is a sure shot,” Ivy said while carrying out electioneering today.

Claiming the people put their faith on her in the previous election, Ivy said “they will do the same in the upcoming election for the sake of peace, progress and development of the city”.

Terming the city dwellers as peace-loving people, the heavyweight mayoral candidate of the ruling Awami League said, “People want peace and they understand me.”

Narayanganj City Corporation is expected to enter election for mayor and councillor candidates on December 22, as slated by the Election Commission.
