A Dhaka court today granted bail to former minister Nazmul Huda's wife Sigma Huda and their two daughters -- Antara Selima Huda and Srabanti Amina Huda -- in two graft cases.

Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of Senior Special Judge's Court in Dhaka passed the order after Sigma Huda and her two daughters surrendered before the court, seeking bail in the cases.

The court also fixed April 22 for the next hearing in the cases.

On January 9, the Anti-Corruption Commission's Assistant Director Mohammad Shafiullah filed the cases against the three with its integrated district office in Dhaka for allegedly laundering about Tk 6.73 crore in abroad.

Sigma Huda was made accused in both cases.

According to a case statement, Selima and Srabanti laundered about Tk 2.67 crore to the UK. They bought a flat in the country on December 12, 2006 with the money.

Another case statement said that Selima and her mother Sigma laundered about Tk 4.06 crore to UK and bought another flat on June 26, 2003.

In the enquiry, the anti-graft watchdog found that they earned the money illegally and spent those to buy the flats.
