Nahid hints at fake question paper trade

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid yesterday dropped a hint that there was a trade going on over fake question papers.

Fake questions for admission tests were sold at even Tk 3 lakh and some professional people are involved with it and they are doing this for a long time, he told reporters at his ministry after an inter-ministerial meeting over the upcoming JSC and JDC examinations.

The minister said the law enforcing agencies arrested such a syndicate who are circulating fake question papers and interestingly this syndicate sold the questions from Tk 5,000 to Tk 3 lakh.

He, however, did not clarify who were the syndicate and when did they sell the question papers.

The minister also warned of taking stern action if anyone tries to leak question papers of the upcoming Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations, reported UNB.

"If any teacher or any staff of any coaching centre tries to leak questions or spread rumour in the social media site, he or she will not be spared,” said Nahid, adding, "We've already made a list of suspected teachers and coaching centre staff and brought them under surveillance."

The JSC and JDC examinations will begin on November 1.

The examinations will be held simultaneously at 2,734 centres across the country with 24.1 lakh students from 28,844 educational institutions registered to sit for the examinations.
