Mymensingh gets new education board

The government has formed a new education board in Mymensingh division.

The secondary and higher education division of education ministry recently issued a gazette notification in this regard.

Md Sohorab Hossain, secretary of secondary and higher education division, confirmed the news agency on Wednesday that the government had formed a new education board in Mymensingh division.

Intermediate and secondary education activities of Mymensingh, Netrakona, Jamalpur and Sherpur districts will run under the new board.

There were eight general education boards in the country -- Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Comilla, Sylhet, Barisal, Jessore and Dinajpur education boards. With the new one, the total number of education boards is now nine.

Besides, there is a madrasa and a technical education board.

Mymensingh as a new division with Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur and Netrakona districts was endorsed on September 14, 2015.
