Muggers snatch Tk 25 lakh shooting man in Old Dhaka

Muggers shoot an employee of a gold jewellery shop and snatch away Tk 25 lakh from him in Tanti Bazar in Old Dhaka Monday afternoon.

Muggers shot an employee of a gold jewellery shop and snatched away Tk 25 lakh from him in Tanti Bazar in Old Dhaka this afternoon.
The victim was identified as Partha Saha, 37, employee of Saad Jewelers was rushed to Midford Hospital and the doctors later referred him to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor).
Partha was returning from Al Arafah Islami Bank of Islampur branch on foot around 3:45pm after cashing out the cheque worth Tk 25 lakh which the owner gave him earlier, quoting to the victim, Ahaduzzaman Miah assistant commissioner of Kotwali (zone) Dhaka Metropolitan Police told The Daily Star.  
There was a huge crowd when four muggers shot Partha in his left leg and took away the bag full of money and walked away, the police official said.
The local people said there were several Puja Mondops in the area ahead of Durga Puja.
