Mohsin's wife gets AL ticket for Moulvibazar-3 by-polls

Syeda Saira Mohsin, widow of former social welfare minister Syed Mohsin Ali, last night got the ruling Awami League's (AL) ticket to contest the by-election to Moulvibazar-3 constituency (Moulvibazar sadar and Rajnagar upazilas) which fell vacant after his death on September 14.

The AL Parliamentary Board took the decision at a meeting in Gono Bhaban with Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina in the chair, said an AL press release.

According to the poll schedule the Election Commission declared yesterday, the by-election is scheduled for December 8 while the deadline for nomination paper submission is November 11, scrutiny November 14, and candidature withdrawal November 22.

The constituency has 3,47,954 voters, 1,74,371 men and 1,73,583 women, under its single municipality and 20 union parishads. A total 25 aspirants collected AL nomination forms.
