Missing Gazipur boy found dead

The body of a schoolboy was found inside a garden of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Ltd in Gazipur yesterday.

The deceased, Jony, 15, a ninth grader at T&T Adarsha High School was stabbed and his throat slit by unknown miscreants in the secluded place on Wednesday night, police suspect.

Jony, son of Zakir Hossain, of Bariali village, had been missing since he went out of home on Wednesday afternoon. His family searched for him in different places, said Julhas Uddin, grandfather of the deceased, also a local Awami League leader.

Locals found Jony's body yesterday morning inside BTCL's Segun garden, situated north side of Naljani telephone exchange, and informed police.

After recovering the boy, police sent it to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College morgue, said Momin Mia, sub-inspector (SI) of Joydevpur Police Station.

His neck and throat was slit, while some parts of his body including abdomen and leg bore injury marks, the SI added.

Police and family, however, could not say about any motive behind the killing.
