Miscreants shoot mother of ‘rival’ in Dhaka

Unidentified miscreants stormed into a house and shot the mother of a ward-level leader of ruling Awami League at Chamelibagh in Dhaka this evening.

Sharmin Sultana, 60, mother of ward-leader Ali Reza Khan, sustained bullet injuries in the attack around 6:00pm, said Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Paltan Police Station.

A group of three to four miscreants stormed into the apartment looking for Ali Reza. As he was absent in the house, they opened fire at Sharmin who opened the door, the OC said.

“She is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital,” the police official said.

Police suspect rivalry over satellite dish channel business might be the reason behind the attack.
